Open Thread: Best Chain for Bevs

Which chain restaurant do you think has the best beverage options, I wonder. For me it’s Sonic or nothing. The menu is huge and they give you the tools to make your beverage dreams a reality. I don’t think I’ve ever had the same thing there twice. This past weekend I went with the Orange Cool Breeze (Sprite w/ cherry and orange flavorings, plus pineapple chunks) and was totally not disappointed. But if there’s something better out there, in the name of all that’s holy, I want to know about it.

  1. There’s a southeastern chain called Andy’s Cheesesteaks. Their menu is trash, but they have amazing fresh-sqeezed orangeade. I know, one drink isn’t exactly “options”, but if I pass an Andy’s I sometimes duck in for a large orangeade to go.

  2. In Newport, Kentucky, just across the river from Cincinnati there was a swell place where you could drive up to an actual former train caboose and get any drink under the sun. I don’t think it was part of a chain but it should have been. Come to think of it, it wasn’t a restaurant either. It was a liquor store. Which I guess makes sense, ’cause it was called the Cabooze! Nevermind.

  3. Sonic advertises nationwide, but the nearest Sonic is a 10-hour drive from me!
Frankly there aren’t exactly a ton of other fast food places that boast beverage options, are there?

  4. yeah I hate seeing the SMACK YOU IN THE FACE ads for their warez when the nearest one to me is reportedly in Stockton or other such place that is far and full of woe.

  5. Big boy here in the Midwest still use separate syrups to flavor your soda. Sure, you’re starting off with the same basic drinks, but you’ve been able to get vanilla (or cherry, or chocolate) coke with exactly as much vanilla as you want for like 50 years.

  6. I noodled out TJ’s favorite drink: blue coconut, minute maid cranberry & apple juices, watermelon and coca cola. Please to be providing an analysis and critique of this drink by request soon thank you.

  7. That Orange Cool Breeze is tops at the Sonic, but I always forget the name, and end up shouting my description into the menu-box until they figure out what I want.
    It works for me.
Aside from that, the Cherry Limeade at Burger Street in TX/OK is my favorite anywhere. Beats the Sonic equivalent by several miles.

  8. Well its pretty main stream, but here in Washington we have a chain called “Red Robin” that serves addictive “freckled lemonades” which is basically strawberry lemonade but with a bunch of strawberry chunks in it, but for some reason it is extra delicious!
